Cat-Calling Campaign

Marking the streets and sidewalks where my peers have been cat-called in the city makes an invisible stressor visible.

What did we do?

How can typography change a public space? This was the question that my instructor posed for this project, but instead of feeling excited, I felt exhausted. I knew that walking around the city, alone in the heat, always meant facing honks, shouts, and murmurs. I realized that that feeling, instead of being an obstacle, could become the focus of my project.

Interpersonal Research

Making my stickers an accurate map of cat-calling locations in Knoxville meant collecting data from my friends and classmates. Their experiences provided not just the information, but the emotional drive behind my work.

Feminist Design

After a few lackluster drafts, I turned to historical feminist design to inject more intention into my stickers.
