What did we do?

This project stemmed from a personal experience; my favorite sweater, which has kept me warm through many a long, college night, is so special to me because my father wore it through his same college years. I wondered, "How can an old sweater hold up so well? Why do my new sweaters fall apart, pill, and fade?" My resulting research spurred me to create a brand that educates women and girls like me on what makes a generation-spanning purchase, and what makes a sweater destined for the landfill.

Website

Thimbled's website leads users through the experience of shopping at a clothing boutique. Clicking between each item reveals earmarks of sustainable or questionable clothing pieces.

Scavenger Hunt

In order to invite reflection on our current wardrobes, the scavenger hunt prompts users with questions about origin, fabric consumption, care, and emotional quality.

Sewing Activity Kit

For younger audiences, the activity kit teaches children rudimentary sewing through narrative tasks. By mending each animal's clothes, they can build the confidence and knowledge to mend their own.
